Disable detection of certain hardware?

http://askubuntu.com – I have a computer with two PCI TV cards. One is Compro (Win friendly), another is Leadtek (Linux friendly). Now, i'm trying to optimize my Ubuntu boot process and i would like to disable detection of my Compro card because it's not working on Linux, it won't work and even if it does, i don't care. Sometimes, i'm using...alterative...OS so removing Compro card from case is not an option. Is there any way to tell Linux "ignore any hardware placed THERE (appropriate PCI slot)"? My dmesg concerning tv card detection looks like this: 1.933868] cx88/0: cx2388x v4l2 driver version 0.0.8 loaded [ (HowTos)
