Has anyone replaced the digitizer (front glass) themselves? I see the kit on ebay for $10 and videos on how to do. It doesn't look very complex.
Advice or things to look out for would be helpful.
Hi everyone, I've searched through the forums and thus far everyone has recommended replacing the entire LCD / Glass assembly rather than just the Glass / Digitizer. I've got a beat up I537 that I don't want to spend the $150 to $200 on the LCD assembly whereas I can buy the digitizer / glass off of Ebay for $35.
I was surprised to see that the replacement note part is $290 just for digitizer and sometimes LCD. I could get a new phone at that cost plus a lot of these phones that I have seen around have cracked screens. How do you guys afford to replace broken screens at such costs.
I recently dropped my TF300 (in the process of jerry-rigging a carrying case for it, might I add) and it happened to shatter the glass and tear some of the ribbon for the digitizer, rendering it completely useless. The LCD beneath is fine, in fact I have already separated the LCD from the digitizer itself.
I have the Note 10.1 with the deep grey digitizer. Anywho, it went SPLAT and is now shattered. The LCD is fine, just need the glass. Anyone know where I can get the deep grey digitizer replacement? Global Direct already scammed me.
So I had a cracked screen on my s3 but the digitizer still worked. Bought one of the glass replacements and started plugging away with the picks and a hair dryer. Got about halfway done with the screen when my stupid cat decided to grab the towel I was working on and knock the phone to the ground. A few pieces removed later I noticed a crack in the center of the led/digitizer.
