Autotrash is a simple Python script comes with Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat which will purge files from your trash when they become older than a given days,purge older files to ensure a specific amount of disk space is free,etc.It uses the FreeDesktop.org Trash Info files included in the new GNOME system to find the correct files and the dates they where deleted.

I was backing up my home dir when I found many ".jpg.pnj" and ".zip.id3" files. The ".pnj" files seem to be thunbnails for the ".jpg" files I have.
I'd be interested in your opinion on finding duplicate files on a Linux system. I've been working with music and photo files trying to purge duplicates. I've tested several programs and have met with good to excellent results, but duplicates still exist. I've also read many web pages that suggest how to remove dupes.

Beginners are mostly afraid of command prompt. Whenever they see a command prompt, they immediately say its very difficult. But its not true. The Command prompt is as friendly as GUI (Graphical User Interface), provided if you use it with proper procedure. Most people use GUI tools to search for files.

Is it a correct command ?

I have a scenario to compare two different files which are of size 1gb each. I need to get the uncommon lines. I planned to use sdiff command, which generally works perfect for me. But in this case am facing a error saying
"diff: memory exhausted"

I have installed Meld and found out it's a great comparing tool. Unfortunately there is no integration with Nautilus 3.2. This means, I can't right click on files and select an option to open them in Meld for comparison.
I have seen in the tools comment that the tool need the diff-ext package to be installed. This package has been removed from Ubuntu universe, I am guessing because gtk 3.0.
