Hey there, I currently have 2 nVidia 560's which are both dual monitor. As some of you might know, it seems the only way to run a 4 monitor setup is to run each pair of monitors as their own Twinview, then stitch them together using xinerama. This basically creates two large "screens" that each span two monitors. Unfortunately, xinerama is very old and outdated.
I've never had much luck getting Fn-key combos working in cycling through display setups (i.e. switch screen between external and internal) so I wrote this little work around that some other might find useful.I use it to cycle between setups when I dock my laptop at home with my main monitor.
I have Arch Linux on my laptop, and I have a LCD connected to such laptop.99% of the time, LCD is not used (i.e., it's used, but as TV, not connected to the laptop), so that I work only on laptop's monitor. The problem is that LXDM always appears on the LCD, and this is a problem: laptop's monitor remain black, while LCD is either turned off or set to TV (so that I have to change sou
Hi,
Apologies if this is somehow covered elsewhere. I've done a good bit of searching to no avail.
I'm running 2 monitors from a fresh install of F17 on my Dell Latitude D410.
Monitor 1: the laptop's LCD screen - detected, all fine and dandy.
Monitor 2: an external flatscreen monitor.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop and a standalone monitor at home. They work correctly together when I plug the monitor in and configure it via Displays.
However, when I unplug the monitor and suspend the laptop, upon waking up I see only an inch or so of the rightmost portion of the desktop on the leftmost portion of my screen.
Greetings,
I am having trouble seeing any desktop after clean install. I'm not an expert (more of a noob than anything), but I've tried doing my reading and work on this as best I could. I'm hoping someone out there can help.
I'm having some problems with a multi monitor setup in Ubuntu:
The launcher will appear on the laptop monitor if the external monitor isn't plugged in on startup. If the external monitor is plugged in on startup it will appear on that monitor.
I have ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop, and I have an external monitor connected to my system.
I have enabled the second monitor from the "Displays..." menu (btw, is there a way to make external monitors enabled by default?
I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on a Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop. The problem I am having is that when I close the lid on the laptop it also shuts off the video signal to my external monitor. I do not want this to happen. I have no reason to have the built in laptop monitor running while I am plugged into an external monitor.
