Different methods for disabling touchpad at the user level?

http://askubuntu.com – I'm trying to re-enable the synaptics touchpad on my laptop after disabling several months ago... And I can't remember which method I used to disable it. The touchpad DOES work at the login screen. First, there is no hotkey on my Function row, nor does Fn+C work. Second, Gconf in /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad, touchpad_enabled is checked. Third, synclient reports TouchpadOff=0. So, outside of those methods, what other ways are there to disable the touchpad? I also have touchpad-indicator, which reports the touchpad is disabled, and clicking on enable does nothing. (HowTos)
