Does anyone know if the OTA update will block the Root process for the HTC evo v 3d all stock? Looking to root but was wondering if anything was patched in the update. Thanks!
Needing some help here guys, I've got a Verizon SCH-i605.
Phone was originally rooted and unlocked with casual when first released. Phone had always been on stock rom with root and custom recovery. Prior to the 4.1.2 OTA Update from Verizon I flashed factory Recovery followed by using Root Keeper to keep root and successfully updated to 4.1.2.
Having some issues with my Samsun Stellar... I couldn't load the 4.1.2 JB Update from Verizon on my rooted Stellar... So I tried to first 1) un-root then 2) flash back to the stock ROM then update. Option 1 didn't work, but Option 2 did.... Odin to stock rom, 1 small OTA update, then the JB OTA... worked like a charm. But once I got to JB, I couldn't re-root my phone.
alright sooooo. my optimus m was rooted through gingerbreak and on cm7 running cool as a cucumber. today i plugged my phone into my laptop and it needed to update the drivers; so i allowed it.... it updated my s/w version, stock reset my phone killing the root obviously; and put my phone into stock 2.2.2 ...... so that forced me to try and re-root using the dummy proof kit for 2.2.2.
So I'm currently running a rooted version of the stock 4.1.1 rom. I've been getting annoying notifications to update for about 9+ months but I just keep ignoring them. I'd like to update the phone to the latest version and I don't care about running any custom roms, all I care about is keeping my root. So what would be the easiest/quickest solution for me?
Only reason I have right now to root is to uninstall these stock apps my phone came with. Is there anyway to do it without a root? Or do I need to root it?? I'm currently on MI1..if I do need a root which one is a good tut to follow. Is it better to update fully to MJ7 then root? Just trying to see what's best.
