I was installing a brand new i3-4330 with the stock CPU cooler. I couldn't get the CPU cooler push pins to click the first time. I removed the CPU cooler for just a few seconds and put it back on and the thermal paste was still wet. Do I need to apply more thermal paste or will the CPU be okay without it?
So... occasionally when gaming my mobo software sets off an alarm for my 8350 reaching 65 deg, which I have been dismissing for a while because by the time I check it usually drops back down to about 60 or so. Today I tried converting a video in handbrake... that baby hit 85 degrees! I clearly have some serious issues here, I am guessing the thermal paste has dried up.
I got a replacement Heatsink and Fan unit, but the OEM unit has the SUN Thermal Interface Material (TIM) already on the heatsink matting surface. Because mine is used it does not have the TIM. Also there are 2 different TIM material SUN used based on the Processor (1-1.28GHz uses a glue backed foil, 1.34-1.5GHz uses gray paste).
