I need to use a dial-up modem (land-line style - not blue tooth) in an area where
this is the only option.
I managed to get a USR (Model 5637) USB modem to connect with the IP using
wvdial and minicom, but have no clue as to how to allow Firefox and Evolution
use the connection.
Googling does not seem to bring up anything useful.
Any ideas?
I want to be able to use my Dial-up networking VPN connection on either my windows desktop or Fedora 12 laptop to dial into my network. My server is Fedora 10.
This question is how do I setup the server. I already have the clients configured..
I've tried this, but it looks like its for LPT2 or IPSEC tunnels. I am looking for PPTP (Dial-up)
Thanks!!
I have Cisco router in a remote location. I have attached a modem to the aux port of the router. The problem I am facing is how do I dial the modem's phone number from my computer in my house that uses a cable internet connection?
I do not want the modem connected all the time since the phone line will be used for calls also.
I just installed 10.04-amd64 on this computer and want to have dial-up internet automatically connect as soon as Ubuntu starts. This happened automatically on my previous 8.10 install once I had edited /etc/wvdial.conf . It doesn't do that now.
I've got a Trendnet TFM-560X external serial modem.
How can I get wvdial to run on bootup?
I have a dial-up connection through PeoplePC and I'm running FC11. In order to get my modem working, I'm told I need to install the wvdial package. To get wvdial, I need wvstreams. I downloaded the source for both on my Windows machine, and transferred the .gz files over to my FC partition.
wvdial might also be a workaround, if one does not like to downgrade. In my case, I had to unset my PIN on the SIM card first.
Hi,I just bought a usb modem ZTE MF195, and I am using Aero2 network (Poland).After googling, I found out how to setup this modem to work on Arch, but it only works with wvdial and it doesn't connect with NetworkManager.My config /etc/wvdial.conf:[Dialer Defaults]
Modem = /dev/ttyACM0
Init1 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","darmowy"
Phone = *99#
Carrier Check = yes
Stupid mode = yes

Hi Guys
