My public interface (eth0) successfully gets a *real* public IP address from my ISP DHCP server; HOWEVER.....here's the issue:
- Valid public IP that the dhcp client gets from ISP is on 174.97.216.0
network.
Hey everybody. At my company I have encountered a strange dhcp server issue. Actually there are 2 issues. The first one is, in one of my ip pools I use deny unknown-clients statement, but if I create a host without ip address, only mac address specifid, the dhcp server thinks that the client is unknown. I have plenty of free leases.
I would like to know, if there is a way I could force the DHCP server to renew the IP address of a client machine instantly, without me going to the client machine? In fact, imagine, I don't have access to the client machine.
So, here is my scenario,
The client first gets a Random IP address say A from the DHCP server initially, when it is connected to the LAN.
Hello, I have a strange problem that is probably something stupid but I can't seem to figure it out. I had a dedicated DNS/DHCP server but I consolidated that functionality into my file server, and then I took my former DHCP server offline. I added DNS/DHCP to my main server by copying the config files over (that's probably the problem). The server *seems* able to resolve DNS.
I've got a problem with dnsmasq on my server everything but dns works on it, it currently gives out dhcp fine and points to the router etc however when i go to a website it wont find it, the dns is pointed to the server on the client machines.
I have a client that has a dhcp server for voice and a dhcp server for data. They have both voice and data on the same vlan (I know, not ideal). Some of the computers are getting dhcp addresses from the voice DHCP server. Is there a way in the switch to designate the dhcp server a port uses?

The network was fine yesterday and as far as I know nothing has been changed or added. This morning some computers are connected to our domain but most of them are reporting limited connectivity. On checking our DHCP server we are getting this message.
Cannot find the DHCP Server:
The DHCP server you specified cannot be located.
