Desktop runs OK except internet just hangs

http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I've got a weird issue on my desktop ( Intel Celeron, 2GB RAM ). The installed distro. will run normally until I try to download from the internet - open a web-page or download an pp. to install - when it hangs at ' loading '. My internet connection is through a new BT HomeHub 4, both ethernet and wi-fi work perfectly with my laptop, but the desktop hangs using the ethernet cable, and testing with a wi-fi dongle gives the same result. I had been running F19 XFCE, but have tried a few other distros. in case it was an issue with a server, even Puppy, which should run on anything, suffers hang (HowTos)
