I just bought a TRENDNET TDM C4000 (=modem/ wiredrouter) and got it working. If I connect my computer with through the ethernet port directly, the internet will work. However, when I try connecting the ends of the ethernet cable on the modem and my wireless router, it's not transmitting. I know I set up the wireless router correctly because it worked with my previous modem.
I am trying to connect my desktop to a wireless network. I have purchased an ASUS USB-N13 B1 adapter. I have followed instructions for installing drivers and disabling conflicting drivers. I have thoroughly searched and could not find a solution. The adapter is recognized and powered on. I have entered the ssid and password information into the wireless network configuration.
I am trying Ubuntu on a trial basis to see if I think I could use it in place of Windows. One of the things I can do in Windows is connect my XP laptop thru a wireless access point which is connected by ethernet cable to my desktop, which is set to share its internet connection. The desktop connects to the internet by dialup.
Hi,
I installed OpenSuse 12.1 on my Dell 690 (X2 dual core Xeon 2.66GHZ, 8G RAM 667 FBDIMM quad channel, 500G at striping RAID (2X 250G SATA), nVidia Quadro FX 3400).
All installation was smooth, took less than 15 minutes. But when I'm trying to login, instead of showing me the desktop computer freezes (user/password screen in fine, just desktop seem to have issues).
Just installed Ubuntu 12.04 a couple of weeks ago on my HP laptop (completely replaced Windows). Everything seemed fine until a few days ago when I was unable to connect to the internet with my wireless network at home. I also tried three other wireless networks and also tried to connect by ethernet cable. These are all networks that I have been able to connect to in the past with no problems.
I have my desktop pc with a wired/ LAN connection to a Belkin wireless router.
We also have a couple of laptops in the house which connect to the same router, but wirelessly.
Is there anyway I can create a network for file transfer and desktop sharing between these computers
whilst the desktop pc is connected via LAN cable? All machines are running Ubuntu 12.04.
Hey folks,Recently I switched to Netctl but it often won't connect to my home network (wireless, wpa2). When I try to connect, it will fail (see logs below) and I have two workarounds:1. Connect to my neighbour's open network, disconnect and then connecting to my home network will work;2.
Hello everyone,
I have recently installed ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a gateway netbook lt303u. My wireless works perfectly, but for some reason, connecting directly to the ethernet port does not (it doesn't even light up when connected to the laptop).
I have tested the cable on another computer to confirm the internet is working. I have checked that my MAC address is allowed on the network.
Hey guys!!! I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on an old hardware. Everything is working perfectly but when i'm disabling visual effects, my desktop works slower. I mean when i want to see my desktop the desktop icons pop up slower and when im making a drag box with mouse it begins to freeze! Turning visual effects to normal solves this problem, but i don't want these effects to be on.
