This simple tutorial is going to show you how to install Firefox 15 in Ubuntu. Firefox 15 is still in beta release. Before it going to stable, the beta release is available in Official PPA for Firefox Beta for Ubuntu 10.04, 11.04, 11.10, and 12.04.
Add Firefox Beta ppa:
First launch a terminal window from the dash or press Ctrl+Alt+T.
ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard with integrated ATI Radeon HD 4200 GPU
$lspci -v | grep -i vga
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Device 9710 (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
The PC worked fine under F11. Had to use nomodeset as a boot parameter to get the installer to run.
every other browser installed is working fine..! except this Firefox. what are the things that I need to check, to make firefox work on my computer. I am a newbie for ubuntu. I tried googling not got enough and clear information. Please help me.
I installed Ubuntu desktop 12.04 (alternative installation, the normal ver didn't work with my 7 yr-old system for some reason) about a week ago, and this is my first Linux install. My initial video situation sucked: I had choice of four resolutions, only two of which worked without cutting off whole sides of my display: 800 x 600 and 640 x 480.
After an abrupt shutdown many settings were messed up:
#1 Firefox was a mess. Bookmarks were gone, and I couldn't even add new ones. I had to reset firefox from safe mode and install all my addons and configure everything. This was a pain but is now solved.
#2 The background in the login screen shows the one I chose with Ubuntu Tweak for a second, and then it puts back the default one.

I managed to install Fedora 11 on a Dell optiplex 260. On the first boot - I can't launch the terminal in the graphical environment. On clicking system tools->terminal it brings up a window with title Starting terminal. It then disappears in a few seconds. Everything else works. I can get to a terminal using Ctrl-alt-f2. But cannot start the terminal within graphical environment.
