DELL N7110 i7, usb 3.0 overheating on ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10, ( system hangs when anything plugged into usb 3.0 )

http://askubuntu.com – When i plug in any devices (mouse, keyboard) into usb 3.0 system dell n7110 overheats and fan goes crazy with terrible noise. So i'm using 1 usb 2.0 slot now with a usb hub. It doesn't solve the problem completely but system stays at a low fan rate for a longer time. I've tried to lower CPU frequency, but in my case (DELL INSPIRON N7110 i7 on Linux 3.0.0-14-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP Mon Nov 21 20:28:43 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) CPU was pretty cool (51 C) and still the same horrible fan noise. Looks like there is no such problems with ubuntu 10.04 (but there're some other problem (HowTos)

I had a problem installing Ubuntu 12.10 on my Dell Inspiron n7110 laptop.

It starts, and then block on firmware bug acpi(pegp) defines _dod but not _dos?

I try to acpi=off, but still got nothing.

Has anyone installed Fedora 17 on the Dell Inspiron 17R-N7110 and be able to use the Intel HD Graphics 3000-do drivers exist for Fedora 17?

I recently tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 alongside Windows 7 on my Inspiron r17 with an Intel i3 processor & nVidea GeForce GT 525 M video card, and immediately ran into issues. This is my first experience with Ubuntu or even Linux but as always I did my home work and tried to solve the issue myself. Truthfully I was over whelmed by the amount of information and just can't seem to fix it.

I realise there is an older thread on the very subject but that seems to be pretty dead.

I just got a Dell Studio XPS 1645 laptop and the fan noise and overheating is pretty ridiculous. This is actually a well known problem with the laptop that is apparently solved with the combination of a BIOS update and the purchase of their 130w charger.

I bought an arduino clone from seeedstudio (here) that should be Duemilanuve compatible.

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron n7110 with a Integrated 1280x720 native HD Webcam. I run unbuntu version Ubuntu 12.04 My built in webcam is not working I have tried installing cheese and camorama and it still is not working. I have no idea why and can not find any threads or helps that can solve my problem. Can anyone help me?

After installing Ubuntu 11.10 on my Toshiba Tecra Notebook, every one or two minutes, the keyboard and mouse freeze for 10 seconds.

I tried to disable the touchpad, but no luck.
