I'm trying to get the following cookbook running in OpsWorks: https://github.com/lusis/chef-logstash/
Following their documentation I have to assign roles to my server(s) to get stuff running.
They also gave examples of roles in the wiki.
But I'm stuck on how to apply these roles to an instance oder a whole layer in my OpsWorks setup.
Can someone tell me how to do this?
Trying to remove a few server roles on a 2003 server but its asking me to put the cd-rom disk in. Wondering if there's another way to remove roles without putting the cd-rom as it's a VM and I don't have physical access to the host, not sure why I would need the disk for removing roles anyways. Thanks
I'm setting up a continuous integration solution involving .NET solutions and MSSQL 2008 Databases.
All my build servers sit in an AD security group called Build Servers. I've created the DOMAIN\Build Servers object as an MSSQL login and granted the group the dbcreator and securityadmin server roles.
Let's say we have blade chassis: up to six blades are possible, two CPU per blade.
Task: deploy entire Windows 2012 infrastructure in this chassis, like Domain Controller (couple of those), different AD roles, DNS, DHCP, file server, print server, WSUS, Exchange.
What is the role of the Linux administrator in a developement environment?
I want to know some of the roles that a system administrator could perform other than the usual tasks like managing systems and services, installing and configuring, and other basic tasks.
We just recently migrated to an Exchange 2010 server. Currently all of the roles and mailboxes are installed on 1 server (we are a small company with less than 100 users). I am wanting to use DAG for replication however it seems most set ups for DAG requires at least 3 or 4 total servers.
