Data Recovery From Accidentally Deleted Files or Crashed Drives in Ubuntu
This tutorial will help you to recover data from accidentally deleted data from Linux-file systems. This is a very drastic mistake by any user/admin which costs for huge penalties. This script will be a boon for newbies/expert for data management. I will be using TestDisk for data-recovery.
I had Ubuntu 10.10 with a sound card problem, and decided to install another distribution to solve it. I tried to tell the new distro to install to another partition, but I must have made a mistake because it installed over my existing Ubuntu.
Is there a way to recover all my data?
I'm desperate, I accidentally deleted all partitions on my laptop, while installing lubuntu, then, fortunately I recovered the important NTFS partition, but to my surprise It recovered everything, movies, mp3s and other stuff but not the MOST IMPORTANT directory, with my dokuments, photos, works.
I just shift-deleted some important pdf-files from my dual-boot system. The files were originally on Windows drive, but I deleted them from Ubuntu.
I just used Foremost to recover, but it returns more than 1000 files, with numbered-names.
