I have sent the following question to stackoverflow website
I have installed Windows server 2008 r2 on a virtual machine, Can I
install Active directory with domain controller + IIS + SQL server on
the same machine?
Because I want to test SSL in the local domain I've installed Enterprise Certificate Authority with the use of this tutorial.
The Install went successful and after install I rebooted the DC.
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine which is a domain controller under Active Directory: Domain Services and I want to also run quite a few things from this one machine. Mostly I'm learning how to hook everything up and don't really care too much about enterprise redundancy stuff.
Anyway, the issues I'm coming across now are that the AD: DS needs a DNS.
Our Domain Controller/Active directory Windows 2008 server is running 5 mins slow, so all the client PCs are also showing the slower time.
Is it safe to change the time on the server? And while the users are still logged on?
Also whats the best way to make sure the time is always correct/synced?
Thanks
S
I am unable to promote my newly installed Windows Server 2012 machine to a domain controller.
Joining the domain as a server that is a member of the domain worked fine.
We operate a Windows 2003 Active Directory network. As the new IT manager I've inherited this infrastructure from previous outside contractors that have come in to help maintain our company network.
We have an Active Directory 2003 domain with Windows XP workstations. Many settings on the workstations are configured and locked down via Active Directory domain group policy.
We need to send a few workstations to a remote office that does not have a domain controller or a connection to the domain.
The instructions for deploying an HPC Cluster (e.g. step 1.5 on this page in TechNet) are very clear that HPC cluster nodes "must be members of an Active Directory domain".
Does the Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services provide this?
That is, can the HPC cluster use AD LDS for its Active Directory domain, or do I need the full AD DS (Domain Services) role?
I set out to integrate Active Directory with the iDRAC LOM for our Dell servers. One of the prerequisites is that the Domain Controllers be SSL enabled for ldap communication. The setup process in iDRAC says Upload Active Directory CA Certificate. So I log in to one of our DCs, go to its personal certificate store, and it's empty.
