Hi,
I use Ubuntu 9.10 on a lenovo T400. My printing seems to be suddenly broken. I connect to the network printer to print --
Using the printer configuration tool, I can connect to the cups server. However, clicking on Settings leads to the following error:
CUPS Server error There was an error during the CUPS operation: ''.
Hi all,I have a Canon MP600 printer/scanner connected via USB to a small print- and scan-server running Arch (last update was yesterday). The printer is shared over the network and can be accessed from a Windows 7 client. But from time to time after 1-2 prints the printer crashes. I that happens, only a power disconnect can bring it back.

I've added an entry on the CUPS web interface that points to the printer on the server. Now I think the problem is that I don't know how to send my credentials so that I'm authenticated to print.
I do not have a solution to your problem but I would suggest to point a browser to 127.0.0.1:631 and configure CUPS from that. You will inteact directly with CUPS and it is better for debugging. Now can you see your printer from there?
I have Fedora 17, KDE. I open Printer Configuration and choose New Printer. I a CUPS server error, "There was an error during the CUPS operation: ' cups-authorization-canceled'. The printer is plugged in.
I previously added a Photosmart-C2400 sucessfully.
I've been working on setting up a print server for my home network, it works great! I can print just fine using lpr, and can print from LibreOffice, but cannot print from other KDE applications like Firefox. I went to add a new printer using system-config-printer-kde, but get an error (see attached screenshot for detail) about KCModule not providing an interface.
error dialog:
clicked on printer...selected "remove"
There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'cups-authorization-canceled'.
the printer is not connected...it is back at Office Depot
connected another printer and installed it...it works great...installed itself
NOW THIS is what I expect from Fedora
stay away from HP cheap printers
Just bought a brother $50 print
Hi Everyone,I have a huge problem and I have problems to solve it :S...I've been used to install cups and hplip for my printer, then start cups (rc.d start cups) and go to the cups page at localhost, add printer.... But today, when I tried to print a file he fails saying ""/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster failed"...
I have a network printer (Brother HL-2270DW) and it works great. The problem is that its IP address periodically changes. When that happens, the computers can no longer find it.
It's setup under CUPS as "lpd://192.168.1.104/BINARY_P1". If the address changes to 192.168.1.102, say, I can still print if I go into CUPS and change it.
