CUPS: How can I assign a dynamic network address to a printer?

https://bbs.archlinux.org – I have a Canon MG5220 (5200 series) printer.  I've installed CUPS and it's drivers correctly; however, when I went to add it through the CUPS interface, it did not discover it.  I read a Linux-related article that Canon uses it's own network protocol: bjnp.  I then installed cups-bjnp backen from the AUR and though CUPS did not discover it I was able to assign a static IP and then print to it:bjnp:// concern I'm having is that this may not always work.  In fact, I'm pretty sure that it will not if I say have to restart the router aga (HowTos)
