Hello,
I have always been used on windows to use the key combination ctrl + alt instead of using alt gr.
especially when I bring up the spiral .. in Windows by pressing alt + ctrl + @ linux but here I have to press alt gr.
Is there a way (and if you like?) That allows me to take the value of Alt Gr to ctrl + alt when pressed together?
I have a problem with Ctrl-key combinations in emacs with the Apple USB keyboard. I have set Caps-Lock as an additional Ctrl key.
When using the Caps-Lock as Ctrl, 'Ctrl-x Ctrl-f' sometimes registers properly but sometimes registers as 'x Ctrl-f'. This happens both when I release and depress the Ctrl key or hold the Ctrl key and do 'Ctrl-x-f'.
I’d want to make modifier keys (control, alt, shift, meta, super, lv3_switch) to act like usual keys, I mean, without holding one of them to perform associated key combination. Say C-x M-1 can by typed like
press Ctrl key — release Ctrl key
press x key — release x key
press Meta key — release Meta key
press 1 key — release 1 key
so that can be performed even with one hand key-by-key!
I need to set a hotkey so that when I press Ctrl+F5 then F5 is registered. I will be doing this for all 12 function keys (Ctrl+1 for F1, Ctrl+2 for F2, and so on). Does anybody know how to do this with xev, an .sh file, the built in shortcut settings, anything? Thank you for the help!

I been thinking of anyone could guide me up, that in ubuntu 11.10 with gnome 3,
there is a option ctrl+alt+d to show the desktop by minimizing the current window.
What I was thinking was that if I press ctrl+alt+d it will lead to desktop screen and when
I press again ctrl+alt+d to go back to my working window..
As of now it doesnt work in this way ..is there any way out to do that same
My laptop has a Fn key right where I always expect the Ctrl key to be. I would like to make the Fn key behave just like the Ctrl key so I stop trying to Fn+C and Fn+V and Fn+Tab instead of Ctrl+C Ctrl+V and Ctrl+Tab.
Is this possible?
Note: I don't care if I am unable to use the Fn key as an actual function key. I never use it for that purpose anyway.
Here's my configuration file : http://subversion.assembla.com/svn/maconf/icewm/preferences

My favourite standard keyboard shortcut when using Ubuntu 11.10 was Ctrl-Alt-NumPad 4 and Ctrl-Alt-NumPad 6 to push a window to the left or right half of the desktop - particularly useful when copying files from the desktop to somewhere on the filesystem using Nautilus.
I note the other Numpad Window Controls seem to have been preserved but not the '6' or '4' sequences.
If this is correct - Can
I have 2 bugs in my Ubuntu 12.04 fresh installation using a Macbook Pro keyboard. Note: I swapped the Ctrl and Cmd keys (Ctrl and Super on regular keyboards), but that should not affect the shortcuts I program.)

I changed the Switch application shortcut from Alt-Tab to Ctrl-Tab. It saves this correctly but the change does not seem to take effect. I rebooted and it still doesn't.
