In July, Xubuntu 12.04.1 and Linux Mint 13 XFCE are going to be released. I would like to know which is more stable than another one because my parent are using Ubuntu 10.04, which is very stable but remains one more year support. My parent do not know how dangerous the Internet is (viruses, spywares, etc) so I chose Ubuntu.
Xubuntu 12.10 is out! Xubuntu is a Ubuntu based GNU/Linux distribution that focuses on XFCE desktop environment.
Canonical announced the first daily build version of the upcoming Xubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) operating system, based on Linux kernel 3.5.0.17.19.
Xubuntu 13.04 is an official derivative of Ubuntu and it features the Xfce desktop environment, which is stable, light and configurable.
Canonical has yet to publish any official information about Xubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail), but we do have s
Hello people !First I must say I definitely love Crunchbang. It is unrivaled on my littke EeePC and just helped me revive an old (1998) Dell Inspiron with only 128 Mb memory, where even Slitaz or Puppy (Toutoulinux) failed.Situation : if I start Xubuntu en then plug an USB adaptator to get to the internet, Xubuntu would automatically recognize my USB key - while Crunchbang doesn't.
I've been using Xubuntu for over a year, and my arsenal of packages have changed from default in the distribution to more nearer to the default in gnome, and I'm no longer happy with Xubuntu as my distribution.
I know that it is actually easy to remove the default gnome/kubuntu packages, but I was wondering if there was a similar way to remove the default xubuntu applications as well.
Just like its older brother Ubuntu, the Xubuntu 13.04 (Raring Ringtail) Linux distribution will launch on April 25. It doesn't have as many changes as Ubuntu, but it's still a nice addition. All the Ubuntu 13.04-based Linux distributions will feature the latest stable branch of Linux kernel, 3.8.x.
I just did the upgrade to xUbuntu 13.04 and now, at least once or twice a day, when I go to open an application - today it was Firefox - xUbuntu logs me out of everything, and all my open apps are nuked.
This is a far cry from the super-stable xUbuntu 12 .... help!!!! This is my work computer!

Just thought I should sign up on this forum before installing Crunchbang on my computer. I've been using Xubuntu 8.04 since about a month after 8.04 was released. Since the new Crunchbang is Debian-based I figured I'd give it a try. The LiveCD runs with no problems so when I can free up some hard drive space (by moving a bunch of music to a different computer) I'll do a new install.
Finally getting round to joining the forum after using CrunchBang for about a year (9.04 on this laptop, and a couple more laptops next to it with Statler partially installed on them!)It's a fantastic distribution for running on an oldish small laptop - tried XUbuntu yesterday, but just couldn't stand the wasted space :-)Duncan
