Hi,
I run Fedora 17.
I created a physical volume of 30GB on a disk with 60GB of space so there is 30GB of free space. On the physical volume, I created my volume group and logical volumes. I assigned all the space in the physical volume to my volume group.
Hi,
I am new to unix. I am working on Red Hat Linux and side by side on AIX also. After reading the concepts of Storage, I am now really confused regarding the terminologies
1)Physical Volume
2)Volume Group
3)Logical Volume
4)Physical Partition
Please help me to understand these concepts.
hi,
ive setup a partition over my 80gb drive which includes a lvm volume group called vgpool but i forgot to create a boot partition outside of the lvm.
theres still space on the drive, but how do i get the volume group smaller?
inside the lvm are various logical volumes called: usr/var/home/tmp and so on.
i know that the space allocated for the volume group is bigger than all logical volumes
Step1:
I have 3 lvm enabled partitions with sizes
300M,200M,100M.
Step2:
I converted them into physical volumes.
Step3:
I made volume group(VG) out of those physical volumes
i.e, total size of VG is 600M
Step4:
I created a logical volume of 100M under the (VG) volume group.
----------------------------------------------------
Now the volume left under the VG is 500M

Hi,
I added a disk of 100GB to my VM, partitioned it with 8e LVM partition then created physical volume, volume group and logical volume by normal process and then formatted it with ext3 file system and then mounted it on a directory.
After VM reboot it went into maintenance mode when checked found that volume group was missing and even disk was without partition table defined.
I redefined the p
I added a Volume group in Proxmox VE as Storage for KVM VMs. A new Logical Volume will be created for each VM, but in Proxmox VE under The Defined Storage which shows list of created Logical Volumes I see my Logical Volume marked as RAW format. Is this a RAW image or a Logical Volume (LVM)?
I run a multi-disk server with LVM2.
i am working in client side. So am not aware to copying the volume group. So please help to copy the logical volume from one vg to another vg.
if copyvg command can help to copy the logical volume?
