I am running CentOS 6.3 under VMware Workstation and everything has been working fine until today. Today I installed some CentOS updates and also upgraded my version of VMware Workstation to 8.0.4... [by Qu0ll]
I have used Fedora 9 and 10 very nicely under VMware Workstation running on my Vista laptop.
FC 11 installs just fine. The VMware Tools install into FC 11 without error. You just cannot configure them, since the kernel is so new. The config-vmware-tools.pl script fails.
VMware announced a new version of its Linux-compatible VMware Workstation 8 software, designed to make it easier to build, share, and upload virtual machines (VMs) to cloud environments.
I have installed OpenSUSE 11.3 64 bit and want to install VMWare workstation 7.1.
I have run the install script for VMWare without any issues.
When I start the VMWare Workstation I get a window saying this:
Before you can run VMWare, several modules must be compiled and loaded into the running kernel.
Kernel Headers 2.6.34-12-desktop
Vmware player free virtualisation software from VMware. Vmware player 3.0 no longer restricted to just powering on and running a pre-built virtual machine; it has the ability to create virtual machines like its big brother, Workstation. While it may not pack the same punch as VMware Workstation, it has graduated to a new level of [...]
I am having trouble running VMware Workstation 9 on Ubuntu 12.10.
After successfully installing it, at run time, the following error appears:
The VMware Tools kernel modules could not be automatically rebuilt.
Please manually run:
vmware-config-tools.pl --modules-only
To rebuild them.
In an attempt to fix this problem, I am getting the following extra errors:
sudo sh /usr/bin/vmware-config-too
This is my first post in the Arch Forums in the 5 years I have been using Arch as I usually can research my problem well enough and find a solution but this one has me stumped.I was running VMware Player 4.0.4 and had no problems with connecting USB devices on Arch 3.4.9-1 on my ThinkPad W530.I decided to upgrade to VMware Workstation 9.
Ok, I have some questions like in my other thread about vmware server vs. vmware workstation.
This one is how does KVM compare to vmware. I've been reading how Red Hat has been embracing/using KVM so how is KVM compared to vmware.
Does KVM have the same performance as vmware, or better?
USB support, any issues with it like VirtualBox?
How to export virtual machine from VMWare Workstation 8 to another physical computer with installed VMWare Workstation 8? i.e. how to move snapshots between different instances of VMWare Workstation 8?
Virtual machine host's Linux CentOS.
Assume, source and target machines with installed WMWare are both run on Windows.
Thanks.
