This might be the only thing I miss from windows.
There is no way to tell the system to run in high performance mode or in power saver mode.
May be this feature which is already there and I am not sure.
So, Is there a way to change the system operation mode into high-performance?
As the topic says, the install of 9.10 did not result in defaulting to on-demand power scheme. This can be changed via the CPU Frequency applet (after entering the password) and seems to work flawlessly, but this is not retained. Upon boot, it's back to Performance.
is there any difference between using Ubuntu Unity and Ubunt Classic/Fallback? Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the Launcher or the Dash. Of course Ubuntu Classic/Fallback doesn't have the Launcher/Dash, but this is not the difference I'm talking about. I mean differences related to performance, features, functionalities, compatibilities, etc. These kinds of differences.
I am new to Ubuntu 11.10 and never touched linux until today. I installed Ubuntu alongside with Windows 7. I have an issue with my laptop overheating and freezing when it uses the high performance GPU graphics mode (hybrid card). It is an easy fix for Windows 7. I simply set the graphics mode manually to the low performance integrated graphics (save power) mode using advanced power settings.
I'm setting up a laptop as a digital audio workstation.
While the audio apps are running, I want to disable any cpu frequency scaling or power management, etc, so that the system just operates at full capacity.
I know about powersave, and I can run powersave -f to force full cpu frequency. I will run that as part of my Jack start-up.
I have two graphics cards on my machine, one Nvidia Geforce 550M and the other is an Intel (I suppose 3000M) processor. There's a physical switch on my laptop by which I can turn the Nvidia one on and off. I use this to switch back and forth between power saving/performance modes.
I have a Windows 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 server. It's virtual, not that that should make any difference. It's only purpose in life is running IIS 7 and it does that quite nicely. However, when I go to the performance monitor, there's not a choice of ASP.NET or ASP.NET applications.
How to keep the system in high performance always because every time i shut down - reboot my laptop automatically change to - on demand -
Thank in advance.
there several methods, tweaks, custom roms have been posted so far claiming for a much better battery performance and the system performance.
Truly admitting I had tried almost every thing to get a maximum performance with maximum battery performance but in a matter a fact it is practically impossible.
However, after trying so much and get so much pain in head there certain things which will de
