Two of my disks have a boot label. How can I find which disks is my system (Debian Sid) booting from? How can I find whether the boot sector is in the Master Boot Sector or in a Volume Boot Sector (at the beginning of the first disk partition)? How can I move Boot Sectors from one disk to another. I was trying to install Lubuntu from a CD which had the Lubuntu.iso burned to it. It hung at the part where it creates the boot image/mbr? Now my Windows OS boot sector is totally borked. Tried the Boot Repair CD (all options where tried). Tried an option in Test disk to repair boot sector, but no go. Can see Windows thru Super OS 11.

After choosing "Guided - Use entire disk" during installation I find that the first partition starts on sector 34.

I'm trying to install F17 on a new HP box with UEFI. My disk layout is /boot/efi 256M EFI System Partition 2M BIOS Boot / 32G EXT4 /sl6 32G EXT4 /home 183G EXT4

On my first install the installer didn't demand a BIOS boot partition, after install it booted to a blank GRUB command line. On the next install it demanded a BIOS Boot partition.

I have 267GB of unallocated space that I want to install onto. (Installing eOS, but the installer is the same). I was going to use the option for a custom install, but didn't know where to put the boot loader. I use Windows7. I also wanted to know if I should create a new partition from Windows. Or if I can do that from the installer. Thanks!

I downloaded the Windows installer into Windows 7 Home but chose the option "reboot manually later."

What should I do to reboot the installer and start the installation?

I cannot find the installer in any Windows file.

Also now I cannot normally boot up my Windows 7. I have to do it via "boot" in the BIOS.
