I know it's possible to use system state, but I do not want to do a full system backup... I want to backup AD and that's it. Would stopping all AD services, then backing up all NTDS files be sufficient in a catastrophic failure? Would I be able to just copy/paste in my "backup" copies of the NTDS files?
Note this is for a RHEL 5.4 system which uses gnome-system-log 2.16 from the gnome-utils package. Unfortunately for us, the selection of these packages and versions are non-negotiable, at least at this time.
When the System Log application is closed, it saves its' set of open log files into the user's folder, in the file ~/.gconf/apps/gnome-system-log/%gconf.xml .
I have multiple OpenSuSE 11.2 systems. With some files being on one system I would like to have another computer to have the files as well. Is there a way to have the files copied to the other system automatically? FTP is one way but it is too cumbersome. I am thinking of something like disk or directory mirroring. Does OpenSuSE have something like that?
I've created a 8GB disk image (ext4) from a partition of USB flash drive via 'dd'. I mount it to a directory:
mount -o loop disk.img mount_dir/
I can access the files inside it. The problem is that when I copy files to the mount_dir, the system seems to have large IO Wait and the system is nearly hang. I also tried to copy only few small files.
What is the most savvy Live Linux Distro for working (open, coping, moving) with files (text documents, pictures, music files and videos).
Typical case: We have a computer (mostly with Windows and NTFS file system) and we need to explore it's file system. Not just copy files, but full functionality including watching video files.
Thanks In Advance!
