Converting VHD to physical partition

http://superuser.com – I use a 60GB SSD as my boot drive, and I have pretty much all of my data on a separate 1TB HDD. My SSD died yesterday, so I'm without a boot device. I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro. I have a system image (VHDX, also converted to VHD) of just the boot drive SSD, and I would like to restore it to a new partition on the HDD so I can continue more or less as I left off until my replacement drive gets here. How can I accomplish this? Things I have tried: Copy all files to intermediate partition, then use live Linux distro to copy to final partition. This was necessary since the files are on a VHD; (HowTos)
