I have recently upgraded from ubuntu 12.10 to 13.04 and today i found that settings like network settings, bluetooth settings, time and date settings present in the top panel with the respective icons dont get open but its working fine when i use from system settings. Also there is no option for "Appearance" in system settings(both in gnome and unity).

The new Unity Control Center is now the default application in Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr). The new tool that will be used instead of GNOME Control Center is called Unity Control Center and it's just a temporary step.
Upon upgrading to 13.10, rhythmbox kept crashing on startup, so I updated to rhythmbox 3.0 and that fixed the problem. Now, though, in the sound panel in the top right of the screen I can't control rhythmbox. Clicking the play button will start up rhythmbox as it always has, but I can't skip, pause, or play songs. I tried editing the settings with dconf -editor, but it still isn't working.
