Dell Computer is continuing to exapnd its support for Linux and open source platforms. We've reported on the company's work with Canonical to bring Ubuntu-based systems to both India and China, including an expansion of this effort. And, Dell just announced that it is delivering an Ubuntu laptop, part of its "Project Sputnik" effort, targeted at developers.

I noticed some propaganda over on the Ubuntu download page over Dell servers shipping Ubuntu. Dell offers boxes with lots of storage like everyone else, at least they picked a familiar distribution.

At its first-ever Dell Storage Forum in Orlando last week, Dell introduced several new products from its storage acquisitions - Dell Compellent and EqualLogic - and from its own native PowerVault product line. Attendees at the Storage Forum were charged up about the products and roadmap enhancements, as well as the direction Dell is taking at integrating the products they've used before.
