I'm currently developing an app mainly for learning purposes. Everything I have read so far has confused me rather then help. My goal is to connect to a MySQL database and retrieve data. The database consists of quotes, authors, and a category that the quote belongs to.
I know PHP and MySQL enough to write an API to return JSON data form the server.
I was about to develop an Android app , and i needed to connect to remote mysql database , when i did some googling i found that most of the tutorials are with using php on that remote server, is that really good practice ? I beleive it will slow downdown interaction speed between the app and the database no ?
I'm trying to connect my Android 4.x Emulator to a MySQL database stored in my computer. I can connect to it without problems with Android 2.x which uses IPv4 but I can't with 3.X or 4.X because uses IPv6.
In my android application, I'm parsing data from mysql database using JSON and displaying in android listview. In mysql database, the date format is YYYY-MM-DD and I am getting this format in android using JSON as a String. Is it possible to change date format to DD-MM-YYYY in android instead of database..??
I have a problem with the application I'm developing.
I am trying to connect to a database in Mysql that is in local in a WIFI network with my application on android.
I use for this, a direct method, with mysql-connector-java 5.1.23.
The application works fine on my nexus one (Android 2.3).
