Hi everybody,Conky Hardcore! is still number 5 on Google when you search for Conky, even though there has been little activity lately, and it would be a shame to see a great site cease to exist.

So I started this conky script
http://conky.sourceforge.net/conkyrc-brenden
(it is the very first .conkyrc file i nthe top left on http://conky.sourceforge.net/screenshots.html) and I only changed the font to Poly and the alignment to top_right. That's all.
I just compiled 1.8.1 and here's my battery line;${color F8DF58}${font Webdings:size=16}~${font} Battery: ${battery_percent BAT1}% ${color 4ac923}${battery_bar 6,30}I noticed that Conky 1.8.1 is now complaining about there not being a BAT0 when in 1.8.0 it wasn't...Conky: can't open /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/uevent: No such file or directoryConky: can't open /proc/acpi/batte

Leave it to Dura to post this ! True ... and funny, funny cuz true (imo anyway.) Agree conky addiction is a potentially serious problem. Esp for conky grand masters like Sector ... he neither knows, nor cares that conky has become addictive. One of the few things about gnu/nix was able to pry meself away from. ooooOOOoo if only x about my conky would but appear 1/47 inch to da right !!!!
I have a new install of Ubuntu desktop on an old IBM T43 laptop, and I am trying to get conky up and running. I've copied one of the sample .conkyrc files from the conky sourceforge page and pasted it into ~/.conkyrc . However, I've rebooted conky several times (killall -SIGUSR1 conky) and it still uses the default configuration in: /etc/conky/conky.conf .
I've pasted back in the relevant bits from my old conkyrc, having added curly brackets to variables, changed update interval, left the window details as they are in the default file. lsmod shows coretemp to be running. It's so far so good - I'll post if any more problems.Current conkyrc:# conky configuration
#
# The list of variables has been removed from this file in favour
