Google has reportedly pulled several Android mobile applications that were lousy with malware from its official Android Market. This follows a report earlier this week from Lookout Mobile Security, which claimed it found dozens of apps in the market that contained malicious code.
An analysis of more than 400,000 apps in the Google Play store has revealed that more than 100,000 of them pose a potential security risk to their users. The analysis of the Android apps released last week by cyber security vendor Bit9 examined the security permissions requested by the programs.
So, mobile security Apps like 'Lookout' and others alike, how much more secure are they making your phone OS and of course personal info or hackers accessing your phone?? Any pros/cons on some of the better security Apps?? Are the free apps actually worth it?

Hi,
Im currently researching Android security as part of a Masters thesis and I'm currently looking at the various AntiVirus applications available.
Firstly, I know that all android apps(including AV) run in a sandbox which isolates them from other parts of the system and this leads me to believe that AntiVirus protection is not very useful apart from the other functionality it is bundled with,
I see that "Lookout Security & Antivirus" has come out with a new version. I have never had it installed and really don't think I need the antivirus protection. I am interested in it because of the "locate" your lost phone features.
We’re big fans of Lookout Mobile Security here at Talk Android. They just keep getting better. Today they announced two new services: File System Monitoring and Install Monitoring. These two services are aimed at those of you that like to download apps from alternative markets, forums, or any other means.
I'm trying to set up default programs for all windows 8 workstations, UAC is disabled via GPO and hence the default programs for opening pdf files, mp3s etc default to the metro apps.
This results in users unable to play these files since metro apps require UAC turned on.
Hey Cool site! Hope you can help me with some problems I've been looking everywhere for answer
How do i delete programs? The only programs i've been able to delete are the ones i've installed The programs i will like to delete are programs such as socail hub music hub etc In other words the useless programs that are preinstalled with the phone Many of them are of no use to me.
Security researchers are predicting around 120,000 malicious apps by the end of 2012 for Android, which they described as the preferred mobile platform by cybercriminals, unless app store providers act quickly to implement safeguards.
