so the initial problem is the mouse wheel buttons are mismapped.
I've got a new Mouse "Sharkoon Drakonia", a gaming mouse with 11 buttons and high changable resolution.
The problem is, that the mouse doesn't work.
The MX518 has two "special" buttons on either end of the scroll wheel that change the dpi setting of the mouse on the fly.
If you run xev, these two buttons don't register as input at all.
Their dpi feature works perfectly well in Ubuntu, but frankly it's not a very useful, and I want to use them as normal buttons, like I do in Windows.

I have got a lot of roubles according to the Logitech MX3200 Cordless Desktop Laser combo keyboard and mouse set.
I just want my keyboard and mouse to work with the standard buttons.
My system is fine but I wanted to refine the ease of use.
Google chrome has a nice feature in Ubuntu that you can switch tabs by mouse scrolling while your mouse is in the tab-bar. And a nice feature that you can middle click close tabs in the tab-bar.
I have a basic logitech mouse with 5 buttons: left, right, wheel left, wheel, wheel right.
I used to use wheel left and right for going back and forward in my browser or navigator. Now this doesn't work. I've found many solutions, people telling to install this program or that, didn't seem to work.

I have a mouse with Forward/Back buttons which work correctly in Firefox, Chrome etc... i.e. they are recognized.
