I'm running Fedora 13 on an ESX 4.1 server.
I've changed /etc/inittab to runlevel 3.
I then installed vncserver.
Hi,
I have an fc17 box with vncserver working as a regular user on display :13. However, when I connect to it from a RealVNC client and try to open chrome, it opens on my real desktop, not the vnc desktop. How do I control this?
I'm using the default gnome with fc17. When I go to the Applications menu and open a gnome-terminal, it opens correctly on the vnc desktop.
I tried Fedora for the first time ... installation worked like a dream, then I wanted to access Fedora from my Debian box on my LAN.
What I did in Fedora was:
1. Install vncserver and vnc (Tigervnc server and Tiger vnc were installed)
2. Gave command vncserver and gave passwd it asked for
I'm new to VNC on Linux and have been following these general instructions to try connect to my Ubuntu 12.04 VPS and view the Linux GUI, but have been getting authentication failure messages when trying to login:
I log in to my Linux VPS and start VNC Server on my Linux VPS:
vncserver
I then set and verify my password "to access my desktops", which I do.
The vncserver is then started und

Hi,
I have just setup vnc over the LAN using Tigervnc on F12. In general it works beautifully.
One thing I can't find any info on is how to get it to share display :0 , the ultimate objective in this case.,
Yesterday installed vnc4server package in ubuntu, after that shutdown the system and when tried to login today, unable to login for that user(through which vncserver installed).
Error I'm getting was login page displayed, but unable to login for that user, But able to login from another user.
After searching on the net for a while, tried some soln's from net i.e.
I'm wondering if anyone out there knows how to edit the xstartup file (or whatever else needs to be edited!) to get vncserver to start in KDE rather than the gnome default.
Thank you!

This may be the world's worst and problem filled hack, but it worked: I edited my .vnc/xstartup file to have only one line:
Hey all,
When I start vncserver on F17, specifying a certain geometry, I do not get that geometry when I connect via a viewer on another machine. Setting the geometry has always worked in the past....but for some reason with tigervnc/gnome 3, I cannot get it to take.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior or know how to alleviate it?
Thanks!
