http://crunchbanglinux.org – Hi,I have ADSL Modem Huawei SmartAX MT882 which has Ethernet as well as USB cable to connect internet.  For so long I have been using this Modem using Ethernet cable. But I want share internet in two computers, so I will have to use it Ethernet connection for one computer and USB connection for another computer.I have done this in the past on same modem with two Windows XP computers.Now I will have to do this with Linux. I have Crunchbang on one machine on which I want to use USB cable to connect modem. When I connect USB cable, the Modem gets detected as "Globspan Virata SmartAX MT8 (HowTos)

I'm trying to help a friend that has some problem connecting to the Internet. the problem is like that :the eth0 is ok, when used with adsl modem and dialer connected without a problem. now he switched to cable modem which should give him ip. ifconfig shows nothing about ipv4 address.

I just bought a TRENDNET TDM C4000 (=modem/ wiredrouter) and got it working. If I connect my computer with through the ethernet port directly, the internet will work. However, when I try connecting the ends of the ethernet cable on the modem and my wireless router, it's not transmitting. Hi, I am using Ubuntu and need to set up the wi-fi. My current internet connection is via a wired ethernet cable without a Modem. But in almost all the cases of setting up process they say,"Connect the wire from the modem to the router.", while setting up the router.

I am using Windows XP in Desktop and F17 in my Laptop. I'm using Teracom Type I ADSL 2 + CPE/Router modem and use the Ethernet the Internet is working fine in both Deskto and Laptop. But not able to use internet via USB cable in Fedora. As per the modem manual, I have installed ValcanUSBdriver too still no use.

I haven't had a problem with this yet, but today I was online via my wifi connection and then the network center said there was no connection. My modem said I had full bars, and I tried restarting both the modem and the laptop, but nothing. The internet works if I plug in the ethernet cable, but will not pick up the wifi signal.

I have Windows Vista and 12.04 on my Dell D630 laptop.

I get my internet from a cable modem thru Comcast. My house has a smart panel with 8 LAN ports, each going to the 8 rooms in my house. The cable modem links directly to an 8-port hub which allows 8 lines to feed each of the 8 ports in the house's smart panel... so every room has a live ethernet wall jack.

In room #1, I have a netgear wifi router connected to the wall jack.

I have Windows Vista and Ubuntu 12.04 installed on my Dell D630 laptop. I'm using Huawei MT882 modem.

I have installed Ubuntu 2 days ago using wubi.

I have tried with USB or ADSL cable but on Ubuntu, internet connection won't work. On Windows however, it works perfectly (both USB and ADSL cable)

Is there any way to fix this problem ?

I am using a netgear router to connect to the Internet.

O/p ubuntu 12 new motherboard gigabyte new cpu AMD old hard drive from older build

1) cannot connect to Internet when I come straight off my Time Warner modem. 2) Connects when I plug into the netgear modem

I am fearful the netgear router is about to fail and I am not sure why I can not connect straight
