I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my Fujitsu Lifebook B6220 laptop just before 12.04 was released. I can not remember if I had this issue with Ubuntu 11.10 as I updated the install to 12.04 about a week after 12.04 came out. My problem is that sometimes upon resume from standby my desktop is frozen. The keyboard, touch pad, and touchscreen work, but there is no response from the desktop.
I am more or less a complete Linux noob, and using 12.04 for the first time. Everything works great, and I am very happy, but there is one exception: suspend won't resume. Every time I suspend my computer, (whether by clicking suspend or by closing the lid) it goes to a black screen (with the backlight on) but there is no way to wake it up.
I added a WinTV-HVR-1600 tuner card to my GA-MA790X-UD4P motherboard. For some reason suspend, S(3), will no longer resume. It worked fine before adding the card. The computer works fine otherwise. When I attempt to turn the computer back on after it is suspended, it tries to turn on, but the monitor never gets a signal and the computer remains unresponsive, but powered.
Hi,
I am running Fedora 17 on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo li1718 laptop with Radeon Xpress 200m graphics card. When trying to resume after suspend I just get a blank screen. Also the wireless light goes out. No buttons work. I have to hold the power button to force the computer to turn off, then reboot.
I am having 2 issues. When I try to shutdown the computer, it gets to the following line, but it does not actually turn off.
init: dbus main process (996) killed by TERM signal
The second issue is that when I suspend the computer and then try to resume, I just get a black screen (I can hear the HD spin up, fans start, etc).
What can I do to fix these problems?
Thank you
I have an "Asus P6X58D Premium" motherboard with ATI Radeon 5770 HD using xf86-video-ati drivers. I've been noticing a problem resuming from suspend-to-ram. It had been working fine until a system upgrade (pacman -Syu) a few months ago. My BIOS firmware is up to date. Initially I would hear the drive spin up to a blank screen an no USB functionality.
I seem to be running into an issue when I suspend my laptop. upon suspend my keyboard layout seems to think the right side of my keyboard is like a 10 key. I have had to disable screen lock on resume because I am unable to type my username or password, even switching to a virtual terminal the messed up keyboard layout persists.
I'm new to Linux, so sorry if I mess up some terminology. I've looked all over google and can't come up with anything.
I'm running xubuntu 12.04 on HP mini 210. I clicked "hibernate" from the menu (where you click your username) and the screen went blank, with te backlight on. I closed the lid (system is set to suspend when lid shuts, if that matters).
I have a Sony Vaio laptop, that came pre-installed with Windows 7. I resized the windows partition, then set up a dual boot scenario with Ubuntu.
I've noticed that when I run Windows and put the computer to sleep (i.e. shut the lid), and later resume it will sometimes show the grub menu. If I select the Windows 7 entry, it will resume as expected.
