I recently got the Compiz Screensaver running on my Ubuntu Linux system. This is a somewhat experimental plugin and so this plugin is not included by default with Compiz.
For some reason, compiz refuses to start in 12.10.

Who doesn't like some eyecandy for their desktops, definitely not me. Compiz has enthralled Ubuntu users for years now. When GNOME officially ditched Compiz for Mutter for its next version, Ubuntu decided to stick with Compiz for its Unity Shell.

but i have compiz -fusion -plugins extra install when i install Compiz 0.8.x Experimental plugins i get this error Installing all plugins without prompting.

This is a project on gnome-look.org, working for compiz 0.8.x on Ubuntu 9.10, 10.04, 10.10. This is a script that installs additional experimental plugins not provided in the official repositories. NOTE: compiz-fusion-plugins-unsupported is no longer in the official ubuntu repos as of 9.10 release. This script includes the plugins that were provided by this package.
People keep saying that Compiz is dead. Compiz is not dead. You can still install it on Fedora with MATE, XFCE, LXDE, etc.
I made it fairly straight forward, just copy/paste the commands in a terminal and run them.

Hello,
I have a done very few posts since I am with OpenSuse 11.1.
I have upgraded to Gnome 2.6 and use compiz-fusion from X11:XGL repo.
For a while (I don't know how long), I don't see the expo, applicaiton ring/cover switcher,etc...
Other plugins work with no problem.
As you can see, I have installed all packages necessary:
