Hi,
I always get messages like those below in my terminals, that obfuscate my typing.
How can I get rid of them (updated opensuse 11.2)?
I already reconfigured syslog to move PackageKit messags to a separate file (because the messages appeared in /var/log/messages too, and I hoped that was the source). But this did not help.
I get an error from the terminal when I run the operation "compiz --replace"
For some reason, compiz refuses to start in 12.10.
Compiz is now available in updates-testing.
Differents from former fedora packages:
-- verion is stable 0.8.8
-- gtk-windows-decorator is droped
because all windows-manager which i can use as base for gwd (metacity, marco)
are ported to gesettings, in result gwd doesn't work correctly.
So, emerald is the default and only windows-decorator.
-- gconf2/mateconf backend is droped
Default
Error
There is an error starting the GNOME setting Daemon
some things such as themes , sound , backgrounds settings may not work correctly.
The last error was:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: The remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired or the network connection was broken.
So I posted a question here: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+question/206656 about the problems I was having with compiz.
The compiz segfaults are back:

Hi everybody. I can't enable the 3d effect in fc12 ,so I ran Compiz with compiz-manage and got the error message I expect
[hh@localhost ~]$ compiz-manager
Checking for Xgl: not present.
xset q doesn't reveal the location of the log file. Using fallback /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Hello all. I am a new convert to #! & am loving it. I used to run Linux Mint\Ubuntu until I found #!. I have #! Statler XFCE running on my Acer Aspire One NAV50. I am trying to figure out how to get Compiz to run with XFCE. I have Compiz installed & I am not sure I set it to start right.
Natty Narwhal includes Compiz 0.9.4 and I think it unlikely that your problem is hardware related. Are you trying to use the gconf or ini backend? The mass of spam in the comments suggests you're trying to use both simultaneously without loading the settings when calling Compiz from the command line (as explained by hobarrera and stated in the post installation message for the package).
