http://www.linuxquestions.org – OK situation is I want to compile a kernel for my old "typewriter" a Toshiba portege 7000ct 266mhz 160mb ram with PentiumII and 4GB hdd it runs ARCH with fluxbox just fine but I was wondering if it would be better to have a kernel compiled for the pentiumII processor and also cut out as much junk as possible from the kernel if so, can I compile the kernel on my desktop pc (amd athlonxp 2400+) for the lappy's processor? or do I have to compile it on the lappy? heres lappy info Code: processor : 0 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 mode (HowTos)
