Hi All,
We are finding it difficult to make the wireless work in my friend's laptop. It is a Dell Inspiron. Running on Ubuntu 12.04 with 3.2.0-30-generic kernel.
lspci | grep -i ethernet
Code:
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR8162 Fast Ethernet (rev 10)
Earlier rfkill was showing that the wifi was hard blocked. However wired internet was working fine.
hi,
I'm having problems with my network driver.
1. at first installation, I did not have either wireless or wired networks.
2. I updated my system using a network USB dongle, and got proprietary drivers, installed it
3.

hi,
I have Ubuntu 12.10, kernel 3.5.0-25 , and did all the updates. The wired connection is not working and for get it working I must install compat wireless drivers.
I have done this once but I reinstalled Ubuntu and now it doesn't work anymore.
I just installed Ubuntu on my hard drive.
I am not connected to the internet because Ubuntu does not recognize my Atheros AR8161 ethernet.
Therefore I have downloaded a total of 11 files in order to make build-essential and linux headers.
I then use this package to make the driver module:
compat-wireless-3.5.4-1-snpc
Right after I installed Ubuntu, I ran all this and it worked.
I recently installed Ubuntu 12.10 in my laptop (Dell Inspiron 14Z 5432) alongside Windows. But both my WiFi and wired connections are not working.
I bought a TP WN722N usb wireless dongle.
