I'm still trying to find help with getting my scanner to function under Ubuntu. It once was functioning in 9.04 but ceased about the time Xsane updated from 0.995 to 0.996. I have dementia and cannot stay focused long enough to solve the problem. In fact I'm not sure how I got scanner working in first place. I remember trying command line driver install and then synaptic install prob.
Can anyone tell me how to install the kernel from squeeze-backports (preferably in Synaptic) without it automatically removing the stable squeeze one? I'm having issues with my video driver (nouveau) when using dual monitors, and I'm thinking the new kernel might resolve the problems. But I don't want to risk losing the otherwise working one if I don't have to.
You can install Kivio from either a GUI tool or from command line. If you open up the Synaptic package management tool you can follow these simple steps:
Hi, I have Fedora 12 installed on my computer and I'm trying to set up a printer and a scanner for my personal use.
The printer is a Canon LBP 3200 and the scanner a Mustek 1200 UB Plus. Both are connected via USB.
For the printer i managed to install a driver, but it will still not print. It only ejects blank pages. For the scanner i tried sane, but to no avail.
I attempted to install Debian through a CD, with the initial .exe working fine. However, when I rebooted and went through the installation procedure, my system could not tell that there was a disk there (or the media was unreadable). Now whenever I boot up my computer, I get the choice between continuing on to windows or to complete my installation. How do I remove that choice?
I have been working on this for a few months now and finally fixed it. Here is the story:
I have an HP Photosmart c4385. It is a wireless Printer/Scanner. After performing clean installs of older and newer Ubuntu distributions I found that I could still printer wirelessly with no problem with install or functionality. However, the scanner only worked if it was connected via USB.
Hi All,
After doing apt-get dist-upgrade and upgrade my OpenVAS stopped working.
I tried updating, removing reinstalling with no lock.
My openvas-scanner is refusing to install and getting this error
apt-get install openvas-scanner
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed.
As you can see in the picture attached

After i used the sort command to sort a VERY large wordlist file i then split them up using the Split command. From there i confirmed that the listed words are in a-z order.
I then ran the sort -u command and noticed that it was not removing unique words.
I decided to try the 64 bit version of 12.04
I have gone through the driver install procedures that have worked for the 32 bit OS but can't seem to find the reason why Xsane and Simple scan don't see my scanner.
The scanner is a Brother MFC3220C.
sane-find-scanner seems to find the device:
Code:
paul@paul-P5K-SE:~$ sane-find-scanner
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect
