I have installed Crunchbang Waldorf (for older pcs).Booting is done properly but when I start an application my pc freezes.I open a terminal (Ctrl-Alt-F1) and I have the message : "Nouveau : GPU locked up - switching to software fbcon" My pc is a pentium4 with nvidia FX5200.How can I fix this problem?
Sometimes when I move my mouse over 'Activities' tab (in the up left corner of the screen), Fedora just freezes. I have to force shutdown by pressing power button. I am not sure, but it always happens when System Monitor is open. I've never had such problem before today.
Running Fedora 18 64bit. Also have Windows 8 installed.
Fedora 17 64bit freezes on a regular basis no matter what programs I use. I suddenly can't move the mouse curser, everthing freezes and the display turns off and on again. When a song or a (Youtube-)video is playing, the video freezes too but I can still here the sound.
==> I have to push the reset button on my computer or hold the power button.
I have a serial dumb terminal. I use a null modem via a serial port to connect it to my Ubuntu computer. It comes in handy when X freezes and the there is no response using the keyboard. If I can boot from my dumb terminal I can fix my system. What other things can I use my dumb terminal for?
Here is a link you can read about a dumb terminal.
