Hello friends,
I have bought a HP-g6-2230sa laptop, which comes with win8.
I have managed to install fedora18 in it.
But the problem is I cannot make it to boot f18 by default. The usual process to boot to fedora is: start the machine-> be very fast to press F9-> select Fedora (or else it will go to os boot manager and will boot win8).
Hello!
I'm new to Fedora and really enjoy using it so far.
I installed Windows 7 on my Acer Aspire 5536, then I dual booted it with Fedora 18(graphical boot(raindrop) worked perfectly and Fedora's Grub became default bootloader) and then I trple booted Fedora 18 and Windows with Trisquel 6.0 GNU/Linux (Trisquel's GNU Grub became the default bootloader and Fedora's lovely graphical boot scree
In my GRUB bootloader, I am getting two entries for Fedora. I am using the default GRUB distributed with Fedora 12. The two entries are as shown below. I looked in the boot folder of my Fedora filesystem and each entry has its own config file. I'm kind of a newbie and I am trying to understand why this happened. Should I delete one, and if so which? Would I be better off to leave both?
O.K., I follow How to set default boot kernel in Ubuntu / Grub? and make a mistake. I didn't count the entry from 0... I want to set default boot kernel as Linux 3.2.17-chipsee,
count it (begin from 1) from the top, and I get 3. It seems grub will skip those menuentry with recovery mode, and select memtest as default boot option. Now when I boot the machine, it cannot skip memtest.
For some reason I am unable to change the installation location for the boot loader when installing Fedora 12 in the graphical installation mode. The 'Change device' button does nothing when I click on it during installation. I'd like to install the boot loader on my /boot partition. Is there some kind of bug that is preventing me from doing this?
I am looking around at what other people besides me have as their boot animnation? I currently have a circling android world boot animation iirc. I am going to be changing it quite frequently though TBH. Am just not sure which one to use permanently right(or at least for the time being). Also, have a buddy that is having problems changing their boot animation even on GingerSteem?
Hello
Been googling this for a little while but could only find a response for fedora 10 so thought it might be out of date maybe,
I just ran a yum update and the kernel i compiled last week has now been replaced with a new version at boot time.
Could some one please tell me how to set the default boot kernel back to the previous one?
I had a go with sudo grub2-set-default 'Fedora Linux, w
I just bought a new notebook which came with Windows 8 (+UEFI) which I will use to play some games, however, I want to have Fedora (18) linux available for some stuff.
I tried and failed to install it in two different ways:
Using the available disk space, I created a /boot, a /boot/efi and a / partitions.
I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I was upgrading to Ubuntu 12, then the
power died and I fixed the broken packages.
