I'm trying to dual-boot Fedora 17 and Windows XP. I installed Fedora from the live-cd with no problem onto a second hard drive, and put GRUB2 on the first drive so it's the boot loader.
When I try to boot Fedora I get a "Cannot open file font True" message and it stops booting. I looked around and found that the error should only delay the booting, and found how to fix it.
Hello friends,
I have bought a HP-g6-2230sa laptop, which comes with win8.
I have managed to install fedora18 in it.
But the problem is I cannot make it to boot f18 by default. The usual process to boot to fedora is: start the machine-> be very fast to press F9-> select Fedora (or else it will go to os boot manager and will boot win8).
Dear all,
Thanks for reading my woes.
I put fedora 15 on my tower about 18 - 24 months ago. About 7-8 months ago I had to move to London for 6 months so I left my tower in storage rather than lug it all the way down and the lug it all the way back up again.
Today I tried to reconnect it and get it going.
After I left it plugged in for a while I attempted to boot up.
I have two new Fedora Installations where I am seeing error in the Grub Menu and instead of seeing 3 Kernel Levels in a menu, I get to see a glimpse of an error message and the boot process moves on.
------- I am very sorry about the following --------
This error message is in a text box with white text on a black background. The "box" is thing bordered box with grey line.
Hi everyone,
I've been trying to install Fedora 17 on my desktop, but can't seem to get past this problem(s?).
Everything goes fine with the live usb and during the installation, but when booting the installed fedora the entire screen gets shifted seemingly at random (sometimes it just moves horizontally with the rightmost part of the image filling in on the left or the other way around, othe
Hi,
I hand an older version of Fedora (FC 14) on one of my machines, which works fine. I installed a newer graphics card (Nvidia 660 TI) and Fedora won't boot. The boot process gets as far as the blue/white status bar along the bottom of the screen, which finishes, but from then on nothing happens.
Hello,
I updated to Fedora 17 from Fedora 16 yesterday, and have been hammering away at issues all day today. One issue I had was that I had the Fedora 16 kernel, so I had to enable the updates repo to get it, or something.
I have Fedora dual-booting with Windows 7 on a stand-alone (no internet) laptop. I've been able to boot into Fedora for several months, and since it's not connected to the internet, there have been no updates to cause my problem.
Recently it has failed during booting.
Fedora will act like it is booting normally, then it will go to a black screen with a multi blue and white animated stripe across the bottom with Fedora 16 on the right side, then before the stripe moves all the way across the screen it will popup to a black screen with the following message:
