Linux terminal showing hostname dhcppc4 that i never configured.
I am trying to install ejabberd 2.1.10-2 on my Ubuntu 12.04.1 server.
I got a problem with centOS 6.3 64-bit. I want to setup my nameserver with bind here.
I changed the ports in the listen section (just added a 1 in front of them) in the /etc/ejabberd/ejabberd.cfg, but after a
/etc/init.d/ejabberd restart
The server still listens on the original ports. Am I doing anything wrong here?
Also the server doesn't seem to start up when the firewawall-rules are set.

I checked /var/log/ejabberd/erl_crash.dump and the 'slogan' (i.e.
Hi, I'm trying to install the directory server, but I keep getting this message:
Error: failed to open an LDAP connection to host 'ldap.lcad.inf.ufes.br' port '389' as user 'cn=Directory Manager'.
I am pretty new to ejabberd. So spare me if this is a noob question.
We are developing a real time application using xmpp and decided to go with ejabberd server.
We are in the process of setting up our server and want to know which OS is best suited to work with ejabberd. If it's *nix, then which flavor to go with - ubuntu or centOS?
I have questions related to the host name in Ubuntu EC2 instances. I have a IPS elastics for hosts that want to be seen from the internet and I have pointed out in the DNS entries with the computer name to those ips.
