Look, up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's... the Beta
release of Beefy Miracle! Flying 'round the world at the speed of the
intertubes, delivering progress, mustard, and freedom to the masses.
We are delighted to announce the availability of the Beta release of
Fedora 17. Want to get a taste of the future?
So, we’re delaying our release. And Coolo has announced we will do another Beta. There will be plenty of time after the beta and before the release which means: we can test the heck out of it! That calls for… a BetaPizzaParty!
You might know the drill by now – we’ve done this before.
...and consider latest point release "beta", at least for now, until it has been tested on more hardware.I just want to be sure that new #! users have the3 same wonderful experience that I had with this distro, and it seems there are still quite a few wrinkles to shake out of the November point release.
Not a big issue, but I noticed all of the sudden the "Release" Section in gnome system monitor, has randomly changed from "Release: Fedora 17 (Beefy Miracle)" to "Release 64 bit"

Everything shows as it should be in the etc/os-release file (also shown in screenshot).
Anyone know what might be up with that?
I have installed Ubuntu Precise Pangolin Alpha release (Daily build dated 20-Feb-2012) and have been upgrading it regularly since then. Now I can see that beta release is available.
So I just want to know what is the difference between Alpha release with regular updates and the new beta release.

This generally depends on what you have installed on the system, but try following the instructions in the Release Notes:
yum clean all
yum update glibc\*
