I have successfully installed centos on a virtual machine via Hyper-V on Windows Server 2008 R2. This server has one NIC.
I have created a virtual NIC, and virtual subnet, and within the virtual machine (via console) I can ping the gateway. But not google. Is there certain steps I am missing, I feel like I'm one setting away.
Im not sure what other information would be useful.
I am building a CentOS 6.2 webserver on a Hyper-V Cluster and have hit a major issue. The current setup is this:
Operating System: CentOS 6.2.
I have just installed Windows Server 2008R2 on a brand new Dell T320 Server to act as a hyper visor for an SBS 2011 VM.
As with all new builds I have;
Confirmed the CPU supports virtualisation.
Confirmed virtualisation is enabled in the BIOS.
Installed all device drivers.
Installed the Hyper-V role.
Rebooted at all Windows requests.
Installed all required updates.
So in theory I should be abl
I have just installed a new Hyper-V host machine running Server 2008 R2. Created the first VM (also Server 2008 R2 SP1) and all is working apart from a bizare problem with network packets.
Host machine has two Intel Nic's one is dedicated to Hyper-V and is setup as an "External" network in Virtual Network Manager. It's also removed from the management OS, so dedicated just to Hyper-V.
I've succesfully installed AD DS, DNS, Hyper-V and RDS. However, when trying to install a virtual machine by means of the wizard it hangs. Importing an existing Virtuale machine makes the console unresponsive as well. The machine is a DL380G6, 2 x X5220, 12 GB. I had the Hyper-V running without AD DS, DNS, but I can't get it to work since installing the latter two. Not even after a clean install.
I am currently having an issue with our Domain Controller network environment which is on Hyper V. Basically the machine that was hosting the Hyper V has crashed. The problem is not with hard drive but with the corrupted hyper v file.
We have all the vhds and xml configuration files in separate partition. Plan is to make a fresh install of hyper v and reattach all virtual machine.
I have read from numerous sources that Hyper-V 2012 does not allow all packets from a physical NIC to be forwarded to a virtual machine. My situation is described in the pic below where I want all packets to be forwarded to the VM from a physical NIC. The issue is the hyper-v extensible switch filter blocks all non-broadcast traffic.
I have exported 2 virtual pc's from hyper-v. Then I imported them. But I cant start one virtual machine where win server 2008 R2 is installed. The machine starts, but then only underscore blinks. I am trying to run these virtual pc on hyper-v 2008 R2 installed on clean metal.
I am currently trying to create a test-deployment of the new Remote Desktop Services in Server 2012. I have been following these instructions from technet: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831585
I have installed Server 2012 and installed Hyper-V. I then created the 3 test machines as per the technet instructions.
