I use PuTTY to connect to a CentOS server, and I sometimes need to enter Romanian characters from the keyboard.
How do I type a c with acute in Ubuntu 12.04? AltGr-; C gives me a c with cedilla instead. My keyboard layout is the English UK default. There are a few solutions posted, but they are all for Gnome 2, and I don't have the specified files.
I'd like to be able to run
unicode-names 'abç'
and see the corresponding Unicode character names:
LATIN SMALL LETTER A
LATIN SMALL LETTER B
LATIN SMALL LETTER C WITH CEDILLA
Printing a string as a series of Unicode glyph names would be useful in several cases:
Distinguish easily confused characters such as "i" and "í".
Explain what a literal string actually contains (for example non-printa
Hi!
I am running the KDE spin of Fedora 18.
When I rebooted a couple of hours ago KDE wont start. I get the login screen, but after logging in it freezes at the "Starting kde" screen (harddrive, wrench, globe, ...).
The command Alt+c works, and i can run none KDE applications such as xterm and firefox.
If i try to type a capital letter with accent (e.g. Ř) in kde-konsole, I get the following result: ˇR - the letter and the accent as two characters. The normal behaviour is that after pressing ˇ character, it is not output immediately but another character is expected. In the konsole tho, the character is output immediately. In other applications, it works fine.
After the intial set-up of Fedora 17, I could open Firefox and view my web cams around the grounds without any problems. After 2 updates through YUM Extender, they stopped working. I only get a screen listing the applications that are enabled. I get no video, no set-up options, and no controls whatsoever.
Hi,
Today I ran #apt-get upgrade for the first time on a fresh install of xubuntu 11.10, and after all was done, my preferred applications were missing.
Namely:
"Web Browser" - I don't really care, I just pick firefox
"Mail Reader" - I never used it anyway
"Accessories -> File Manager" - It is working, as I can still open folders, drives, etc.
I have a Canon MX410 All-In-One printer that's worked OK up 'til now for my minimal printing needs. Suddenly, it's stopped printing. Ink and paper are fine, the Nozzle Test shows no problems and it both copies and scans correctly. It accepts print jobs and CUPS claims that they've printed but nothing happens.
Just wanted to say that I like how Fedora's implementation of KDE is very KDE-centric, more so than other KDE distros.
I like this a lot. I've only known of one other distro that does this: Chakra Linux.
