So my friend got new laptop with mobility radeon 5470. It's not supported by neither free nor proprietary drivers, so he is stuck with vesa - correct me if I'm wrong.
How can he achieve 1366x768 - resolution native for his lcd panel? Currently we're limited to 4:3, up to 1024x768 - scales ugly.

Any help is greatly appriciated.
Noticed this on boot up the other day, but it doesn't seem to have a negative effect. Everything appears to be running just fine.
"Triggering udev events: /sbin/udevadm trigger --type=failed"
Is this something that needs to be resolved or ignored?
Thanks.
Hey all.
I just installed Slackware 12.2 and everything ran smoothly.
Except, when i boot into it, login and try and start x, it doesn't work.
Code:
Fatal server error:
no screens found
Waiting for X srver to begin accepting connections
giving up
Installed RH Server 5.3 x86_64.
Problem is that for some reason mouse cursor goes very large (2-3x larger than normal).
After reboot & logging in cursor is normal but at some point it goes large.
It's also very unprecise.
Anyway, I've some X.org settings, but nothing has worked yet.
Has anyone had similar case ?
Hello all.
I recently had a problem with Proftpd, when execute proftpd return the next error:
# /sbin/service proftpd start
Starting proftpd: [FAILED]
Hello,
I'm using ubuntu, and I'd like my /var/log/syslog file to display unix_chkpwd lines, such as this one (which it doesn't do at the moment) :
Feb 6 04:20:40 www unix_chkpwd[20528]: password check failed for user (root)
I'd rather not install linux_pam unless really necessary because I already tried it and I've had quite a lot of problems with it.
And we are unable to restore the setting because the button to click on to do so is outside of the viewable screen! Also we have lost the start bar/dock at the bottom of the screen and cannot figure out how to get it back.
Im trying to recompile the 2.6.29.4 kernel to have the megaraid_sas driver built as a module instead of built-in to see if it solves a problem that is happening on a Dell Perc 6 contoller. Im having some trouble getting it to boot. It compiles fine as a module, but when the system boots, it freaks with a kernel panic and not being able to mount / .
