Hi;
I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my Samsung Chronos laptop. My upgrade manager is set to run each Friday. A couple of weeks ago, and today, Update Manager lists quite a few KDE related packages it wants to update. I do not use KDE. I decided at the outset I would try out Unity for a while, and it turned out that I liked it quite a bit.
Is KDE required in some way?
What have I missed?
Precise, 2D Unity, Auto-login to a single admin account.
Update Manager set to present all updates daily.
Synaptic used for individual package management otherwise.
Password always prompted for by that application at all operations.
At the last couple of update presentations, Update Manager didn't prompt for admin password when okayed to install updates.
My update manager does not give me the option to upgrade to Ubuntu 12.10. That is, the "New distribution release '12.10' is available. Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions" section is not shown.
I had the same problem upgrading to 12.04. Spent hours trying to upgrade the system, got lucky somehow, don’t definitively know how.
My update manager will not complete an update. Even just one or two items.
I ran the Update Manager in Mint 9 and it said I have to fix broken packages before it can do any upgrades.
I then ran Synaptic's 'Fix Broken Packages' command and a line in the status bar said 'Successfully fixed dependency problems'. But Update Manager still says there are broken packages.
The latest updates brought in an updated update-manager-core (0.161) that requires update-manager itself to be removed, as it's not updated. After falling for this one on one quantal install, I tried to check the Changelogs, and ran into some indications that update-manager was to be re-named Software Updater, but no information about any intention to remove it.
Anyone got any more information?
Like the title says the Update Manager doesn't show up automatically, like it used to do, when there are available updates. To be more specific ,the only way I can update my packages/installed programs is either via Terminal or run open manually the Update Manager.Does anybody know how can I fix that?
Today I checked for updates and got an error message telling me I must do a partial upgrade. I was shocked to see how many updates there were available. 900+ Updates!
At the moment my Update Manager is holding a very long list of security updates.
A window opened and gave me a Warning some of the packages are "not authenticate" so.... I am.....
How come there are so many ( 823.8 MB) updates?
How do I know which security update to allow Update Manager to install?
Any advise is appreciated because I don't understand.
Thanks in advance
