Until today's update, I could start Terminal with either Ctrl-Alt-T or else the BFB at top left, then a terminal icon would appear on the launcher, and I could lock it to the launcher.
I use terminal a lot.
Until the last Raring Unity update, I could start terminal either from the top left icon or else with Ctrl+Alt+T then the terminal icon would show on the launcher and I could lock it to the launcher.
No more. The terminal icon no longer appears on the launcher and I can't lock the launcher.
For the way I use Ubuntu, that's a big deprovement.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Intentionally or accidentally I have removed Firefox from Unity launcher. When I opened Firefox to get the icon on launcher so that I can right-click it and choose "Keep on launcher" When I did so, the icon stays for the session, but when I logged out and return again, I don't see the icon on launcher. How can I keep Firefox icon on launcher?!
I've downloaded from the USC an app that grabs colors with the mouse (result shows in the terminal) and I'm trying to add a unity launcher app to run that command in the gnome-terminal.
Here is the code:
#!/usr/bin/bash
[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=Grab Color
Exec=gnome-terminal -x grabc
Categories=Development;
Icon=/home/diogo/.local/share/applications/colorline.png

Is there a way to customize a Lucid Lynx Launcher icon for various programs? There does not seem to be a way to do this using Create Launcher or Launcher properties. The application is not actually "installed" on the PC, the executable has just been copied.
I installed Nixnote on Ubuntu 12.04, locked the icon to my launcher, and set a custom icon via /usr/share/applications/nixnote.desktop.
When I copy nixnote.desktop to ~/.config/autostart/, Nixnote shows up in my startup applications list with the proper icon. When I log off then log back on, Nixnote launches automatically (as it should).
Hi
I've got a Java application, it's a JNLP file, that I start by clicking an icon on my 12.04 desktop. Is there any way I can move the icon to the Unity launcher? When I try to drag it onto the launcher, it just pops back onto the desktop.

I installed ubuntu 12.04 and I added "Terminal" to the launcher bar, the default size of the terminal is a bit small, after some googling here is how I made the disaster change:

The task bar on the left hand side of the screen: I installed Clementine and didn't choose launcher at the beginning. Now I want to put an icon in the launcher, so I click and drag which now there is a spot for Clementine but no picture.
How do I put the Clementine Logo on the actual Launcher spot?
Thanx.
P.S. Ubuntu is really awsome.
